At DMB we still do quite a bit of research that helps us to better understand how players perform and more importantly, how to rate players for our annual season database. As of May 10, 2017, there has been an increase of 65.9 % more players placed on the Disabled List as compared to the same period in 2016. Here are some details.

32 DL stays have been for 15 or less days. I'm going to say these represent the new 10 day DL stays which is a little surprising as I would have expected the 65.9% increase to be primarily made of the 10 DL stays. But you can clearly see that in 2017 thus far, the number of pitchers landing on the DL is a 71% increase from the 2016 season.
