to Mike Hais:

A favorite movie of mine growing up was Damn Yankees.  There's some terrific stock shots taken at the old stadium with that Bohemian Beer Scoreboard in the RF backdrop (the other park filming was apparently at old Wrigley Field in LA).  The latter was obviously shot during off-season because the Bermuda grass was dormant.  LOL

An interesting detail about the Washington Park was when they moved the LF fences in the late 50's giving chance for RH hitters baby Killer, Sievers, Allison and Lemon to pop more HR's at the home digs.  I love the makeup of the various 50's Senators teams with guys like the Eddie Yost, Mickey Verdon, Jenson, Runnels, Ramos, Pascual and others.  What a collection of fascinating stat cards those guys made up.  Ramos is a clinic with the IPs, HRs,allowed, BB and batting abilities.  Great name too.  Pedro Ramos!  Outside of my Halos, the old Nats are my next favorite replay team.  I once made a Strat-O-Matic super team of them and took on NL winning teams in mock World Series matchups.

Our Jack Wood designed the old time ballpark backgrounds for the Strat-O-Matic computer game.  The old Senators park was a classic including the residential homes just in back of the CF fence/flagpole and all the trees (DC is a great tree city).  What a place that must have been to live in those times.  It gets my imagination boiling... gosh!
