Have spent the morning going through the 1979 rosters and coming up with an all African American team to barnstorm through 1949.  Here are my selections...  Any suggestions welcome.

1B-  Cecil Cooper, Willie Stargell
2B    Joe Morgan, Willie Randolph...    (Morgan was certainly not the top 2nd baseman in '79 but is a sentimental favorite of mine)
SS-  Garry Templeton, Ozzie Smith
3B-  Bill Madlock,  Enos Cabell
OF- Dave Parker, Dave Winfield, Reggie Jackson, Don Baylor, Ken Singleton, George Foster, Jerry Rice, LOU BROCK (team captain and in the last year of his career)
P- JR Richard, Mike Norris, Dock Ellis, Jim Bibby, Vida Blue, Ferguson Jenkins, Ray Burris, Donnie Moore, (only thought of 8-  Who am I missing?)
C- Manny Sanguillen (couldn't find an African American catcher in 1979 so went with a Panamanian.   Might use Elrod Hendricks as a backup even though he only had one AB that year)
Manager-  Buck O'Neill
1st Base Coach- Cool Papa Bell
3rd Base Coach - Jimmy Crutchfield
Pitching Coach- Ted "Double Duty" Radcliffe (can step in and catch if he has to)

Opening Day Line Up

Templeton- SS
Winfield- RF
Rice- CF
Cooper- 1B
Baylor- LF
Madlock- 3B
Morgan- 2B
Sanguillen- C
Ferguson Jenkins (deserves the opening day start)

All in all, I think this team will dominate its way through 1949.
