For replay Earl Weaver Baseball was never beat by any graphics game that came after it. I was disappointed by everything that came out until I ran into Diamond Mind and text simming.
Graphics IMO ruined Earl Weaver II.

Spos got it right about the bullpen warmup rule (it keeps you in the game too) and watching pitch count, reading the pitch-by-pitch clues (including hard-hit foul balls and pitches that are considerable out of the strike zone) and understanding that if you're using default pitch rates of the Era, you're screwed if you think you're going to get away with anything because designer Tom T believed no pitcher worthy past the 6th inning.  I most always modify the ceiling of his rates for season replay to better simulate the durability capable from a chucker.

A cheat trick is to reset player usage.  I do that in World Series play to better simulate the extra effort, all or nothing, play hurt, there's no tomorrow performances we see in the fall classic.  Reset is also necessary before any Mr. CG Bob Feller start or a Nolan Ryan start.  I recall Angels games when the Ryan Express threw over 200 pitches.  Go that in DMB!  LOL
