If you do, that's most likely what is to blame.


My league of 15+ years uses it and always has. (I don't think we should but that's another story.) Many, many times when I am managing my home games against the computer manager the pitcher gets left in by the CM to bat in obvious PH situations, even though there appears to be much better options available on the bench. However, those available hitters are all ahead of their real life at-bats "pace" and the CM ignores them.


For the past couple of years, as a public service, I have advised the other owners in my league, prior to opening day, to make sure that they are giving their CM's enough options so that this doesn't happen... either by having high AB guys on your bench, or adjusting the at-bats limits for individual players within your manager profile. But many owners don't address the issue and, thus, Grant Balfour bats in the top of the 9th. with the bases loaded and the visiting team down by two!
