With Atlanta down 3 games to 1 they threw their ace Claude Osteen out while Minnesota could afford
to send out #4 starter Tommy John (10-13 4.00 ERA). That way they would have their two 20 game winners (Jim Kaat and Joe Horlen) ready for games 6 and 7 if needed.
