When using real life lineups and transactions, and  a team puts a player on the DL and back dates the transaction, say Randy Johnson, Arizona 2003, April 21 effective April 12: why is the player available in games from April 12 until April 21?  I know in this case he is cause I just simmed it.  This would seem to give the team in question an unfair advantage if the player is used during the time between last real life appearance and date of transaction.  And if the player were used during that time it gives the team an unfair advantage on the back end of a disabled period of the minimum stay begun on April 12.
Since the transactions are placed into the game in hindsight why doesn't DMB just disable the player on the date in question?  I can see the aim of keeping 25 man rosters as legitimate, but in a case like this the team really is playing with a 24 man roster until Johnson  is DLed and a call up is made.
First, years ago it took me awhile to figure out but if you enter the DL date say for May1st and the effective date as April 25, you are correct the game will not disable the player until the DL date passes.  Thus, in the instance I just mentioned you need to make the date April 25.  Think of it this way, the player is injured and did not play in any games because he probably could not or they did not want him to for fear of further injury.  That is why they allow the team to back date the transaction.  We are doing the same thing, making sure the player does not play like in real life.  You will find that there are times where the players available to play may drop down as low as 21 due to numerous DLs or injuries.  Right now in my 1974 replay with the Reds, I am down to a 8 man pitching staff due to DL.  This is the kind of stuff a real manager has to deal with.

Nice thing with DMB is if you don't like that part of it, you can go into the games that have not been played and fix your transaction dates so that the effective date is the same as the DL date and that will solve your issue with it.

If you play 1974 for example you will also have injuries included which will make it a bit more challenging as these guys do not get replaced yet is what real life managers have to work around.

Hope this helps.  Rod
