I know that Diamond Mind recommends "use ratings" for draft rosters. However, as has been mentioned here previously, the problem with that setting is that the CM uses the same lineup for every game. I was wondering if using projection disks might allow one to use "match playing time" instead.
The logic behind "use ratings" for replay rosters seems to be that you want to give the CM the flexibility to use its roster in the most efficient manner possible. In other words, you don't want to force it to have to play Ronny Cedeno over another, better, SS, who has less at bats. However, with projection disks, most players come with inflated plate appearances, thus putting players on the CM's roster on a more equal footing. This should result in the CM trying to pick the best lineup for each game. However, with "match playing time" selected, it will occassionally have to rest its preferred starter in order to stay within playing time limits. Thus, real life is more realistically mimiced.
In sum, when using replay disks with draft rosters, "match playing time" is going to force the CM to sit more skilled players more often. But with projection disks the differences in PAs between players is much lower, so the CM will should have more flexibility to pick its lineups based on merit. However, becauese "match playing time" is selected, it will have to occassionally rest its starters. Does this make sense?
