I have not posted lately as I had some computer problems. Anyway everything is back up and going and I did not lose my baseball card pictures or the league itself as they were backed up. Unfortunately my back up was before the season started so I had to redraft the teams. I did not write down my choices so there are a few minor changes in my teams (Twins and Braves) and a lot of changes in the others as they might be drafting in another position.

Big win for my Twins as they have been hot lately and moved to 46-28 with a 3 game lead over Chicago and
Baltimore and Washington falls 7 games back. Two big individual performances as Jim Kaat picks up his 15th win
(1 week till all star game). He was removed after 6 innings because he had thrown 125 pitches in his last start.
Frank Robinson hit his 26th Homerun and drove in his 65th RBI giving him a big lead on Tony Conigliaro in both
catagoreies (Tony C has 21 HR and 52 RBI) and Frank still holds a slim lead on Curt Blefary (321 to 317) for
the batting title so Frank is on pace for a DMB Triple Crown.

We are at the All Star Break and my Twins are in 1st place with a 5 1/2 game lead over Chicago and Kansas City is 6 1/2 back. There have been several Managerial changes already. Detroit has replaced Chuck Dressan with Bob Swift for health reasons and now it looks like Frank Skiff will have to replace him for health reasons. Clevelands Birdie Tebbetts and Bostons Billie Herman are also rumored to be on the hot seat. Boston could be looking for a young manager to shake things up. Maybe someone with minimal experience like Dick Williams from Toronto but that would probably be impossible. We can Dream anyway but they will probably play it safe and let Pete Runnels finish up the season. Yankee GM Ralph Houk does not like the 2nd Division and he has fired Johnny Keane and taken over himself. So far it hasn't helped as the Yanks are still 3 games under 500. Of course the biggest surprise came before the season started when the Twins fired Sam Mele (who led them to the 1965 pennant) and replace him with the unknown South Dakotan named Wade Johnson. So far it is working out as the Twins are in 1st place. Here is the All Star team announced by the voters. There will not be an actual game this year.
League Newcomer Frank Robinson is leading the league in BA/HR and RBI and is on pace for the first triple crown since 1956.
Jim Kaat has 16 wins and is on pace to be the first 30 game winner since Dizzy Dean in 1934.

Cincinnati announced that Don Heffner is fired at the break and a replacement will be named tomorrow. Rumor has it that Dave Bristol will replace him but a minor league manager (Like St Petersburgs Sparky Anderson) is a possibility. The headlines would read Sparky Who so it probably will not happen. Atlanta is slowly getting back into the race under rookie manager Wade Johnson. They are 2nd in Homeruns and the fans are starting to call Atlanta Fulton County the launching pad. I have played the season thru July and so far things are going very well for both of my Twins and the Braves as
they are both in first place. Of course there is a lot of season to go. Frank Robinson of Washington is still on his
triple crown pace with big leads in all 3 areas (321 33 HR 82 RBI). Jim Kaat of Minnesota is 19-7 and still has a shot
for 30 wins but it is slim as he will only get 15 more starts (he has an iron durability). Hank Aaron is having a super
year (in spite of playing for Houston and hitting in the Astrodome putting to rest the theory that you can't hit there) as
he has 42 HR and 101 RBI's for big leads in both areas. He is still on pace to top Roger Maris's 61 HR set just 5 years
ago. Who says we are in a pitchers era.

It doesn't feel like August here in South Dakota but that is where I am at in my season. Anyway both
my Braves and Twins were bitten by the dog as they both played sub 500 baseball for the month. The result is
that the AL has really tightened up and Braves went from 1st to 3rd and are now 4 and 1/2 games back.
Individually Frank Robinson is still on pace for a triple crown with leads in all 3 areas (332 BA-42HR and 103 RBI).
Jim Kaat has lost all chances for a 30 game season as he is now 21 and 11 and is tied for the major league lead with
Sandy Koufax (21-5) who is not being bothered by that cool San Francisco air in Candlestick Park. Hank Aaron has also
cooled off and the Houston slugger is now trailing Roger Maris's 61 HR pace. He has 47 HR and 119 RBI with 30 games
remaining.
