I believe I am overthinking this, but I have a question on ERAs.
I play vanilla seasons and, for ERA information, I just check each league to ensure the At Bats, Hits, Doubles, Triples, etc. data is correct. I have never made adjustments to individual players.
Today, I was doing due diligence for 1948 and looked at Yogi Berra’s Batting Event Table. I accidentally hit OK rather than Cancel and Yogi’s batting statistics came-up. I hit OK again, and when I re-opened Yogi’s Batting Event Table the ERA Selection was filled in with 1948 American League and the PARK Selection was filled in with Yankee Stadium. In addition, all of the other 1948 players I checked had their ERA Selection and PARK Section filled in.
As a check, I went back to my current 1947 replay season and checked Yogi’s Batting Event Table. The ERA Selection and PARK Selection were filled in with Neutral.
I was further confused when I re-opened 1948 and in Yogi’s Batting Event Table the ERA Selection and PARK Selection were back to Neutral.
I have played several seasons and thought each season’s ERA and PARK information was handled programmatically in background. My previous reading of the ERA help file was when I first started playing and my conclusion was the ERA information was most important if you were including players from different seasons in a single replay.
After further reading of the help file, and postings here, I wanted to get an additional clarification to see if my approach is correct.
My questions is; If I am playing a single, vanilla, season do I need to adjust each of the individual player’s ERA and PARK information? If so, how do I accomplish the adjustment?
Or, did I just stumble on something that is not critical for the way I replay seasons? In case I stumbled on something, exactly what did I find?
Thanks for the help,
